Dear Reader:

A fast and busy two years have come and gone, with many activities and accomplishments.  What a great honor to serve as your president !  Thank you for the support, especially the wonderful board.  Members please support and assist the new incoming board when called.  A reminder dues need to be submitted; envelopes are provided in case you have forgotten.

The commemorative reprint of Georgia Ogle's Elm Fork Settlements: Farmers Branch & Carrollton book is complete.  Thank you's are in order to those who made this beautiful and informative book a reality.  Ray Ogle (Georgia's husband), Jack and Marion Good Blanton, Margaret McKamy Colwell, Joanna Davis, Curator, Farmers Branch Historical Park, Hal Simon, Donald O. Wignall, Carrollton Assistant Fire Chief, Edwina Thompson, Paula Parke and Dorothy Kyser Wright.  They searched for and provided photographs.  With over 600 pages, it's a superb history with information on settlers, new photographs, Peters Colony area maps and errata page.  Order your copy today!

Help the society grow !  Encourage family, friends and neighbors to be a part of a great society and reap the educational rewards.  1997-1998 plans include adding genealogical program topics, the #2 hobby of young and old alike.  Education is the key to learn the value of family and local history and the part you can play to preserve it!

September 3-6, 1997 The Federation of Genealogical Societies & The Dallas Genealogical Society annual conference will be at the Hyatt Regency at Reunion in Dallas.  This plans to be the largest event of it's type ever held locally.  Over 120 courses offered, including society management, genealogy topics for beginner to novice, and "Step back in time" a special event Saturday night at Old City Park Volunteer to help with this big event.

Read "Echoes" with pleaseure, gain knowledge or just reminiscence of "times past"!  I'll plan on seeing each of your in September and have a fun summer !

Sincerely,

Paula Parke, President
