February 3, 2004 Fellow Members, Our next meeting will be Monday, February 9, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. at the Carrollton Public Library at 4220 N. Josey Lane at Hebron Pkwy. This is our temporary location on the northeast corner of Josey Lane and Hebron Pkwy. We will meet there on February 9, and March 8 before moving to our new permanent home. Our program this month will be an update on "Old Red" presented by David Schultz. We look forward to hearing about the progress of the new museum. Kathy Clampett of R.L. Turner High School may make a short presentation concerning the History Day Fair. The students did very well in last years competition. Kathy is looking for prospective volunteer judges for the afternoon of February 20, 2004. At our business meeting this month, a slate of nominees for 2004-2005 will be presented. Voting will take place in March this year to prevent conflicting with the April meeting. The officers will be installed at the May meeting. The Elm Fork Echoes, our yearly
publication, is a great collection of personal and family memories and
research. Please remember to complete your article soon.
Ann Perdue has requested that all articles for this years
publication be submitted by February 14th. On April 12, 2004 we will have a joint meeting of our society and the A.W. Perry Museum supporters at our new permanent home at the Josey Ranch Lake Public Library. We will be dedicating the A.W. Perry stained glass window from the old Union Baptist Church. Please let me know the names and addresses of anyone else you would like to invite to this special event. On March 8, Jim Gatewood will be speaking on Benny Binion. Start thinking about what you would like to bring to our Show and Tell meeting on May 10, 2004. Warmly and sincerely, Richard Monroe President, Peters Colony Historical Society |
