From Armagh to Laredo:
Texas Music has Celtic Roots
You
are cordially invited to the 35th anniversary meeting of the PETERS
COLONY HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF DALLAS COUNTY, TEXAS at 7 p.m. Monday,
February 12, 2007 in the large meeting room at the front of the library.
Christy and Gordon McLeod who are founding members of the well known
Celtic music band, Beyond The Pale (www.beyond-the-pale.com ) will be
presenting our musical program. They have a special interest in the
traditional music of America, Ireland and Scotland and have traveled
every summer for the past ten years to Ireland to study and perform.
They will weave together the history of how the music of Celtic
immigrants who settled in Texas influenced early American Folk music.
They plan to tell stories about some of the tunes they will perform.
The Peters Colony Historical Society meets here at the library September
through November and February through May at 7 p.m. on the second Monday
of the month.
